This chapter explains Article 1(2) of the Rome I Regulation, which sets out specific exclusions from the scope of this Regulation. These include exclusions involving the status or legal capacity of natural persons; family and comparable relationships; matrimonial and comparable property regimes; wills and succession; negotiable instruments; arbitration and choice of court agreements; questions governed by the law of companies and other bodies; certain questions of agency; the constitution of trusts and the relationship between settlors, trustees, and beneficiaries; pre-contractual dealings; and certain insurance contracts.
