This chapter discusses the rules and regulations setting the appropriate standard of behaviour for those engaged in mortgage lending and advising. It focuses on the law and regulation of domestic mortgages whilst acknowledging there are various other forms of home finance now regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. It explains the specific regulatory requirements which apply to the design, promotion, and distribution of equity release products which encompass not only regulated mortgage contracts (in the form of lifetime mortgages) but also home reversion plans.
