11.01 Sweden has a long history of recognizing arbitration as a means of solving disputes. Commercial disputes are settled in Sweden by arbitration to an extent that surpasses that of many other countries. The first Swedish arbitration statute was enacted over 100 years ago, in 1887, and there are antecedents in fourteenth century provincial codes.
