This chapter describes the role of expert witnesses in the resolution of international financial disputes. In cases where complex, technical issues are concerned, experts are needed to present evidence effectively to the tribunal, to help parties identify crucial facts and relevant issues, and to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the case. The factors that must be taken into account when considering the relevance and proper place of experts and expert testimony in international financial arbitrations are also discussed.
