This chapter discusses the regulation of lending in the UK. It covers consumer credit, mortgage regulation, and The Lending Code. It suggests that apart from very specific cases in which the bargaining position of the borrower is viewed as particularly weak, the making of loans and the terms on which they are to be made available is essentially unregulated in the UK.
