1.01 Insider dealing is a criminal offence in the UK under Part V of the Criminal Justice Act 1993 (‘CJA’).1 It is also a civil offence under the market abuse regime contained in Part VIII of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (‘FSMA’).2 This Chapter covers what insider dealing is from a practical perspective, with reference to some real-life examples.
