This chapter explains Article 8 of the Rome I Regulation, which creates special rules for individual employment contracts, restricting the effect of any party choice of law to protect the interests of the employee, and, absent party choice, creating special rules for determining the applicable law that are substantially different from the general rules in Article 4.
