This chapter discusses form requirements. Form requirements are typically used as a means to protect consumers, or as an attempt to assist dispute determination by way of evidentiary rules. Additionally, statutory form requirements are used for a variety of purposes, such as the goods to be sold, the parties to the contract, or the value of the contract. The formal validity of the contract has traditionally been distinguished by the law of the place where the contract was concluded. Moreover, the in writing formal requirement is imposed by law. The chapter also notes the form required for initial contract and alteration.
