This chapter examines the definitions used in the IBA Rules on Evidence. The definitions themselves do not provide any substantive rules of conduct or evidence. The ‘Definitions’ section of the IBA Rules sets out basic definitions to be applied when using the IBA Rules on Evidence. The chapter then presents each of the definitions provided in the ‘Definitions’ section of the IBA Rules. These definitions concern the terms arbitral tribunal, claimant, document, evidentiary hearing, expert report, General Rules, IBA Rules on Evidence, party, party-appointed expert, request to produce, respondent, tribunal-appointed expert, and witness statement as used in the IBA Rules.
